CEI Weekly Saturday Children’s Education Support
The CEI Weekly Saturday Children's Education Support
Ramadan 2009-2010
Time: Weekly Saturdays 11.00 – 13.00,
CEI are privileged to run supplementary classes in the subjects of Mathematics, English and Islamic Studies for children between the ages of 7 – 16yrs. These classes re-started February 2008 at a local community centre and by Spring 2008 CEI progressed to gain Hazelwick Secondary School in Crawley. As a result this has accelerated the teaching capabilities as well as increased the children intake by providing CEI with vital resources.
Currently, CEI runs 12 week terms which consist of a mid term activity session, an end of term examination and a final parent’s consultation session where parents have the opportunity to review test results and speak with the individual teachers to discuss the progress of their child.
The classes are divided into children of similar age and or academic ability where each class consists of a maximum of 20 children. Many sessions are smaller in number which allows the children to benefit from close contact tutoring. Each Saturday is divided into one 35 minute session for each of the three subjects, Maths, English and Islamic Studies.
There are currently 9 teachers and approx 65 children in attendance and we have access to six classrooms. Maths and English are taught using current curriculum study aides and are viewed as supplementary classes to a child’s current full time education. The Islamic Studies comprise of either an authentic text in Seerah or stories of the Prophets or basic Arabic language such as simple phrases, numbers and alphabet. The GCSE class is currently going through the Book of Numbers course. In the coming months, CEI plans to extend the Islamic Studies to include Arabic language and speaking for all children.
