The Forth Hadith by Imam Nawai

The forty hadith (prophetic statements) collection by Imam Nawawi is from amongst the most famous and widely accepted such collections. The chosen traditions have been described by religious scholars as those that are ‘the axis of Islam’ or ‘half of Islam’ or 'the third of it’. Imam Nawawi writes in his introduction about these hadith:

Every person wishing to attain the Hereafter should know these Hadith because of the important matters they contain and direction they give in respect of all forms of obedience, this being obvious to anyone who has reflected upon it.

CEI is extremely honoured to have Shaykh Akram Nadawi from Oxford teach this course and provide commentary to them. Shaykh Akram commented that Islam is based upon three: Belief, Practice and Moral teachings and the author of this text has collated his hadith collection seemingly around this principle.

This monthly hadith class began February 2008 as part of the CEI Friday programme and is scheduled generally to be the last but one Friday of each month.

The Khatum will be on Friday 19th June 2009. The evening will consist of commentary to the last hadith by Shaykh Akram Nadawi and a lecture about the importance of seeking forgiveness by Mufti Muhammad ibn Adam al-Kawthari.
